A new era in skiing

Want to find out more about the issues facing sustainability and tourism? Check out the new Forum for Environmental and Cultural Sustainability in Tourism. Write a short article and you might be up to win one of 3 free ski trips up for grabs.

All Breakout Ski trips include carbon ofsetting as standard.

What does this mean? It means that we support afforestation projects in the Kenyan rift valley, to offset the carbon footprint of all of our passengers' holidays.

Why Kenya? Breakout Ski holidays happen only in Europe. However, climate change doesn't, and it is well documented that our pollutant lifestyles have worse consequences for poor people on the other side of the world than they do for us.

What's more, we're proud to support the Escarpment Environment Conservation Network in Kenya because afforestation and carbon reduction is only one of the great products of the project. This project also helps to alleviate poverty through job creation, it creates water catchment areas which provides more water/food security to dependent communities, it provides habitats for wildlife and paves the way for ecotourism.

This project is continuously monitored for high standards and has received endorsement from the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), being included in the Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campiagn. This programme also meets the BSI's PAS2060 specification on carbon nuetrality.

We hope you'll have a great ski holiday with us. However, we urge you to consider that not everyone has the opportunity to ski. In fact, not everybody has the opportunity to drink clean water, or eat food every day. During the booking proccess you'll have the option to contribute a little extra to the tree planting in Kenya or to the Disasters Emergency Commitee.
